Troubleshoots

The most common call we receive is a troubleshoot call. It can range from a wide variety of reason and causes but generally the call is about something no longer having power. There are numerous reasons something may lose power. We recommend checking that all breakers and GFCI outlets are reset. If you can’t find them or have tried that already and the problem persists, its time to give us a call!

Some things that can help with the finding the issue is taking a mental note of when it happened, and what you are/were doing when it happened. If we get on site and the problem has gone away, it makes it very difficult to troubleshoot.

A list of issues we can address in your home that will require troubleshooting:

  • Flickering / dimming lights

  • Loss of power

  • Damaged wiring

  • Broken circuit breakers

  • Loose devices

  • Sparking

  • Burning smell

What to expect:

The best advice we can do is to turn off the breaker powering that circuit. Sometimes that is not always an obvious solution, especially if the panel is unlabeled. If you are very concerned than turn off all non essential breakers until we can arrive.

What if i’m worried about a fire?

That is sometimes common if you plug in a vacuum or piece of equipment that is running or is set to the “on” position when you plug it in. We still typically recommend to at least replace that outlet just to sure though.

I saw a spark when i plugged something in!

This answer can vary a lot. Mostly depends on how severe the issue is and/or how many problems you have. Typically most troubleshoots will take an hour to find and repair.
